Korte geschiedenis /// Short history ///
Tot nu toe hebben we 4 projecten gedaan. We zijn twee keer naar de Filippijnen geweest. Eén keer in 2003 en één keer in 2007. Een andere groep is in 2006 naar Peru geweest. Dit jaar hebben we het plan om naar de voormalige Nederlandse kolonie Suriname te gaan. Een plek waar veel te doen valt en waar veel lessen geleerd kunnen worden.
So far we've done 4 projects. We've done two trips to The Philippines in 2003 and in 2007. Another group went to Peru in 2006. This year we plan to go to the former Dutch colony Suriname where a lot can be done and a lot of lessons can be learned by our pupils.

Mission Statement
De bedoeling van het Caland Exposure Project is dubbel. We leven in een wereld die steeds meer naar elkaar toekomt, een proces wat globalisering wordt genoemd. Tegelijkertijd komen we steeds meer van elkaar af te staan. Het begrip voor elkaar in de maatschappij en de wereld neemt helaas niet toe maar af. Toch zijn alle mensen in feite hetzelfde. We zoeken geluk en we hopen dan we onze dromen kunnen waarmaken. Dit is niet voor iedereen even gemakkelijk. Het maakt veel uit waar en hoe je geboren bent, maar ook hoe je in elkaar zit. Door je in te zetten voor de dromen van anderen kom je daar echt achter. Dat is onze filosofie. Leren door te het mee te maken.
Het tweede doel van het project heeft daarmee te maken: Jezelf leren kennen, je grenzen maar ook je mogelijkheden verkennen door met een groep samen één doel na te streven. Dat kan heel goed dichtbij huis, maar soms leer je het meest van jezelf en over jezelf door in een totaal andere omgeving te ervaren wat je kan en wat je niet kan. Dit is het exposure gedeelte van het project.

The filosophy behind this project is twofold. We live in a world that comes together, a process called globalisation. At the same time it seems people in society and in the world grow apart rather than together. Yet people in the end are basically the same. We look for our share of hapiness and we wish for our dreams to come true. The chances of this to happen are not equal for everyone. The place or the class you're born in and the way you are really matter. By supporting other peoples dreams you will truely come to this realisation. That's our philosophy. Learning through experience.
The second part of this project is connected to the first. It's about learning who you are. Getting to know your boundaries and at the same time realizing your possibilities by working together for a single goal. It's something you can do close to home. But sometimes you learn more about yourself by putting yourself to the test in a completely different environment. That's the exposure part of our project.
